Brown & Roberts: Mission Statement
This document is intended to be the outline for the law firm of Brown & Roberts. We believe that God has provided us with the opportunity to have this law firm and that He will enable us to be successful in a way that will honor Him.
We desire that this Mission Statement and the Scriptural principles upon which it is based infect everything we do, every decision we make, every document we draft, so totally and completely that as the verse at the top of this page suggests, we carry out all our responsibilities in such total dependence on God that He is actually building and maintaining our law practice.
It is through this Mission Statement that we meld our individual unions with Christ into a joint union in Christ with a single purpose: To glorify our God in this world and, in particular, through our work at Brown & Roberts. To this end and to His Glory:
- WE RECOGNIZE that through our relationship with Christ we are a "new creation." [ 2 Corinthians 5:17].
- WE RECOGNIZE that Jesus has called us to be salt and light in this world.
- WE RECOGNIZE that God calls us to train ourselves to be Godly. [1 Timothy 4:7].
- WE RECOGNIZE that God calls us to "be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus." [2 Timothy 2:1].
- WE RECOGNIZE that according to Scripture, we are to struggle with all his energy that which so powerfully works within us [Colossians 1:28-29, paraphrase], and that "apart from [Him] we can do nothing." [John 15:5].
- WE RECOGNIZE that as the Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 3:7: "I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow."
- WE RECOGNIZE that Jesus has told us that if we remain in Him and His words remain in us, that we can ask whatever we wish and it will be given to us. [John 15:7].
- We recognize, as our Lord Jesus did, that by ourselves we can do nothing. [John 5:30].
- WE RECOGNIZE as the Apostle Paul did in Philippians 4:12-13, that the "secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want", is union with Christ, who gives us strength and in and through whom we can do all things.
In light of the truth of Scripture and its portrait of God's awesome love for us:
- WE RESOLVE to individually endeavor to strengthen and grow in our relationship with God.
- WE RESOLVE to pray to God frequently, continuously and consistently regarding all aspects the law practice.
- We resolve, on a regular basis, to pray together for the law practice.
- WE RESOLVE to measure all our actions in God's eyes and not man's through both prayer and the study of Scripture.
- To this end, we resolve, as the Psalmist did, to take an oath and confirm it to follow our God's righteous laws. [Psalm 119:106].
- WE RESOLVE, at every opportunity, to seek counsel from Godly men and women regarding all aspects of the firm
- We resolve to work extremely hard at our law practice, struggling even to the point of weariness, but all the while, struggling in Christ's strength.
- WE RESOLVE that if God eventually calls us to a different area or job, that we will be able to look back at this opportunity without regret or hesitation, knowing that whatever we did, we did it with all God's strength and for His Glory.
Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain,
